We express practical love to those around us, sharing in food preparation, laundry, and overnight shifts for Winter Shelter.
We also provide food for the ministries of Life-Gate Inc., Peninsula Pantry, and Theodora. In these we work with the wider ecumenical, local Frankston churches.
Soup-making - May to September
Wednesday Prep & Share makes nutritious soups weekly throughout May to September.
Fried Rice Meals - Post-Winter
The need in the community does not diminish post winter and the “prep and share” team makes nutritious fried rice each week which is shared with the Peninsula City Church Pantry and Lifegate Frankston.
There are various jobs that can be done – cutting up vegetables, cooking, filling the plastic containers and labelling, washing and drying the cooking utensils, etc.
The Wednesday team is flexible and welcoming of all who would like to help between 9.30am and 11am weekly.
If you would like to volunteer to help make the soups and meals, please contact Cathy McInnes by text message on 0466 229 930 it is a quicker connection.
The Frankston Winter Shelter is a combined project of the Frankston churches coming together in unity to support the vulnerable in our local community.
Frankston Winter Shelter aims to offer a bed, a warm meal and safe place for the night across Monday through to Friday each week through the winter months.
The model is based on Stable One's model which aims to provide 'more than a place to stay' by offering guests a safe, caring, non-judgemental community environment to receive refreshment, hope and rest.
It runs for thirteen weeks providing crisis accommodation for up to 10 people experiencing homelessness in the city of Frankston.
If you would like to volunteer assist with Winter Shelter, please email or leave a message on 0467 181 384
